Spreading Good Vibes

Last month, with over one hundred people in attendance the Where Angels Play Foundation hosted a beautiful ribbon cutting ceremony to honor Brendan’s new playground in Lavallette, NJ. It was highlighted with bagpipers and drummers, a State Police flyover, and a banner plane with Brendan’s mantra of “Good Vibes & Easy Living” circling the area.

Toward the end of the ceremony Father Ray, a priest from Bergen County, gave a reflection. His house overlooks the playground and he expressed, “My original connection with this project was not one of joy but one of anger.” To his dismay, he had arrived home Monday night to see the original playground gone. However, after doing some research, he learned that the old playground was being repurposed in another location for impoverished children and the new playground was being built in honor of Brendan.

It is hard to believe it has been four years since we lost Brendan. Since then, there have been five lacrosse festivals, three concerts, multiple bar nights, an array of fundraisers, a golf outing, and numerous dedications in Brendan’s name. Together, a group of Brendan’s friends and family, with the help of so many others, ran four lacrosse festivals to raise money for the Brendan P. Tevlin Memorial Field at Seton Hall Prep. After the Fourth Annual Brendan Tevlin Lacrosse Festival, some of the organizers decided to create a nonprofit organization and the Good Vibes & Easy Living nonprofit was formed in November of 2017.

With the 5th Annual Brendan Tevlin Lacrosse Festival behind us, the Good Vibes & Easy Living Executive Board is looking towards the future. “Aside from planning next year’s festival,  our goal is to grow our foundation’s reach every year, and the website has been a great enhancement for us this year,” says Dave King, a Co-Founder of the Brendan Tevlin Lacrosse Festival, “One of the many ideas discussed in our meetings was to create a blog, and I think it will really help spread Brendan’s mantra of “Good Vibes & Easy Living.”

Over the next few days goodvibeseasyliving.org will begin posting blogs from some of our board members, various writers, and high school students. We have been speaking with English and Theology teachers about our blog to give their students the opportunity to write for us and earn service hours. “The goal of the blog is to be a place for people to read about positivity” says Co-Founder, Michael Condon, “to get a break from the 24/7 news cycle that seems to contain so much negativity.” We look forward to spreading Brendan’s message of “Good Vibes & Easy Living” to even more people…..so follow us, likes us, and share!
