About Brendan Tevlin
Brendan Patrick Tevlin was a great young man who meant so much to his friends, family and community. Brendan, a Livingston resident and graduate of Seton Hall Prep in 2013, was recognized for his service toward others and his volunteer efforts. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Lacrosse Team, Ambassador’s Club, Knights of Setonia, President of the Gaelic Society, on the Student Council, Math Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and he was the recipient of the Monsignor Tuohy Award for having achieved a GPA of over 4.0 for all four years at Seton Hall. Brendan was also an enthusiastic surfer who left his mark on numerous programs. He was a founding member of NJ Restore the Shore at Seton Hall Prep, organizing clean up after Hurricane Sandy, a volunteer ski instructor with Winter Special Olympics and ,most notably, his participation with Autism Big Brothers.
A proud Irishman, Brendan was a bagpiper with the Essex County Shillelagh Pipes and Drums band, and he enjoyed summers with family and friends in Lavallette. Posthumously, Brendan has been honored as the 2015 Irishman of the Year by the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, and recognized at New York Young Leaders St. Patrick’s Celebration for his mantra of “Good Vibes & Easy Living”. Seton Hall Prep has named their main athletic field in Brendan’s memory, Livingston has dedicated their athletic fields on Okner Parkway in his name and Where Angels Play Foundation keeps Brendan’s spirit alive at the playground built in his beloved shore town of Lavallette, NJ.
